In addition to the already existing answer, I would like to say: also because the brain, knowing the stimulating effect of cigarettes, asks to use another dose of nicotine in order to drink more and not fall asleep, since the brain considers alcohol pleasant and wants to get it as much as possible. Well, for people who are not familiar with the effect of cigarettes, alcohol simply removes the moral barrier, which in a sober life forbade them to inhale the smoke of tobacco sticks.

The answer is the same as the question why over time we smoke more. For us, a cigarette stimulates the release of endorophins, and in a drunken state you firstly want as many different pleasures as possible, and secondly, feelings, including satiety, are dulled
