I can understand why some here treat the fashion for healthy lifestyle negatively, in some way. I agree that many simply blindly follow the trend, questions of external beauty and status come first than health care, which is not ok. But the benefits cannot be denied. Proper nutrition, meditation, gyms. Business even combines this with charity, only today, for example, I read about Qnet marathons. So I think that maybe we all have different goals, but if there is a result and we feel better, then this is the main thing!

Because it should be so! To give birth to a healthy generation! I'm thinking about my third child now! And I am already over 30 and the gynecologist advised me to train the muscles of the pelvic floor! I gave out the Tulip exercise machine! I did not think that just a stick with a ball could give such colossal results! Abdominal pain disappeared, the cycle returned to normal! From the reviews, I see that classes 3 times a week for 10 minutes give a guarantee for easy labor! That's what a healthy lifestyle is for

Also partly because there is an opportunity to post all your successes in all sorts of social networks. If no one sees what (what) good fellow you are, then there is less incentive to study I think this is also the case.

Percentage 80%, if not more, of all those who go to the halls and eat chicken fillet, are more concerned with the external effect of all these procedures, rather than the fact that it will improve their health. Look at the women in the gym. What are they doing? That's right, 8 out of 10 pump the ass. They also tear their backs and overload their joints, convinced that round buttocks will help them finally find personal happiness.

It is worth remembering the Soviet propaganda posters, which did (I am not sure if this word applies to posters) almost the same thing that people are doing now, posting their classes in the hall or healthy meals on Instagram or elsewhere. So it is still a controversial issue, when this fashion appeared and whether it is a fashion at all.

But if we still assume that this is a fashion, which, moreover, appeared relatively recently, this is explained, as it seems to me , widespread prevalence and availability of the Internet.

I think it's no secret that some people led a healthy lifestyle long before the appearance of the fashion you are talking about. The percentage of such relative to the entire mass of the world's population is unlikely to change much for any insignificant reasons, which include the fashion trend. In my opinion, the point is simply that people got the opportunity to upload whatever they wanted to the Internet, and those who had just eaten and exercised right before, considered it deadly necessary to tell each dog what they ate at the first opportunity. broccoli, ran on the simulator, etc.

Thus, the emergence of fashion is not due to the increased number of "healthy people", but to the fact that people can now upload their sports achievements to the Internet and thus attract relatively great attention.

And you indicated the answer directly in the question. It's fashion. And any fashion is either a reaction of society to the state of affairs (hippies and the Cold War of the 60s), or it is a business. And the best thing is to catch the mood of the society and make a business on it))). You sold dried fruits mixed with bran for, conditionally, a dollar, now you attributed Fit or Slim, or something else on the package, and you can sell for 3 bucks per pack). Apparel, fitness gadgets, food are all industries. And being healthy has always been relevant, fashionable and correct). Only at the moment this has been emphasized.

For some reason, I remembered a case. Me and my friend were walking around the city and he dropped into a sports store. I bought protein for the "rocking chair".

Me: - Nikitos, for this money you could buy fifteen kilos of chicken breasts. Still, for a dozen buckwheat and a pack of multivitamin would be enough.

He: - This is PROTEIN!

Me: - It's protein ...

He: No , not protein! Read what it says "Protein"!

Me: - * facepalm * ...

Purely formally, a healthy body and healthy were in vogue almost always and everywhere, except perhaps in the Middle Ages, when obligatory fasting and prayers were popular. Take at least the same ancient Greeks as the Renaissance. Although, it can be noted that only very noble and rich people could afford to choose what to eat, as well as to play sports.

Well, okay.

Let's say a person manages to earn a little more than he needs food. The question then becomes, where to invest the rest? Maslow's pyramid, of course, is beautiful, and even at a basic level, you want, for example, your back / head and so on to not hurt right now, and you want to make sure that this does not happen in the future. Everyone is scared to get sick and die, so many people do not unreasonably believe that a healthy lifestyle at least postpones the moment a number of problems appear and is a good preventive measure against a number of other diseases.

In this regard, investing in health. If you want a serious business case, I can suggest the article On the Concept of Health Capital and the Demand for Health by Michael Grossman (1972)

Being healthy is good, everyone knows it.
When you launch an advertisement for your product, then turning to arguments like "this is healthy", "this is natural" gives extra points and popularity (regardless of whether it is true it or not).
About a healthy body - these are stereotypes of modern culture.

Medicines are expensive, medical services are expensive and what will happen next with medicine, which has turned into a profitable business, is unknown. So it became much cheaper not to get sick.
