Perhaps, the point here is not at all that people who have been shipwrecked / crashed fall asleep from severe stress. Imagine this accident, it rarely takes place without injury to the person himself and in this case, the "shutdown" can occur due to a strong blow to the head by the wreckage of the same aircraft, or from profuse bleeding due to injuries, or (if it is a shipwreck) from severe hypothermia in water, while the victim was carried to the shore of the island. In any case, as in the variant with severe stress, this is a disruption of the body's regulatory systems.

It is a dream that says that people are so stressed that the brain does not want to think anymore and turns off, as already noted in another answer.

You can compare it with a "state of passion" term from jurisprudence. Affect means extreme excitement, stress, and murder in a state of passion is not punished as severely as ordinary murder (if the killer's state of passion was caused by the victim's bullying, for example).

So, we are on a couple under criminal law it was said that one of the signs that a state of passion had taken place may be the fact that the killer fell asleep calmly after the murder. For example, there was a case when a woman killed her husband with a large kitchen knife (he again came home drunk and insulted her), and then, as if nothing had happened, went to bed. The police were called by the neighbors downstairs, who bleed through a crack in the ceiling. This is a state of passion. But if the woman, after the murder, would run to hide the corpse, there would be no talk of affect, since she was able to be aware of and plan her actions.

I think the same is in your example with the plane crash.

This is not a dream, this is an automatic shutdown. When the brain cannot cope with the shock, it goes into an autonomous mode - let it be so. Maybe it will.

Why in the morning, so in the evening to shoot one firebrand. + - affects the time spent in this very autonomous mode.
