Well, because people are idiots and want to believe in miracles. And these are two different categories of people, if that, although very often they merge into one.

You see, this is the case here: those who actually use magic (and if he is also lucky that he does it on a professional basis and for money) he will not rub you in that, they say, you are cursed there and that only he can help you. Damn it, he will send you to the doctor, and he will only help if he really feels something or if you ALREADY tried everything before!

And if you think that such people will be sitting in some dark room covered with purple velvet fabrics - you are an idiot. Firstly, because the sunlight fights the dark forces best of all, and the only one who will sit in the darkness is the one who belongs to it. And secondly, because these are all cinematic tricks and you are fooled by them!

In addition, there is something else for those who love to run to the sorcerers because of any illnesses. And here's the thing: it's too dreary! Lord, well, think for yourself, it will be easier to kill you with some curse of an accident, where a car will fall on you from the bridge while you are on a boat ride, or by fucking ... whatever you have; any single kidney cancer that can be removed?

Understand what you're afraid of, that's all. Even sorcerers visit doctors, for that matter.

Because the doctor is telling the unpleasant truth, and the charlatan says what his visitor wants to believe. The doctor says to go in for sports and not drink alcohol, and the charlatan says that all troubles and misfortunes are due to the evil eye, for example, and is ready to eliminate it quickly and easily. It's easier for a person to follow the path of least resistance, that's all. People love fairy tales and still love to believe in them.

By the way, this explains a bunch of articles about the fact that thoughts are material and all that - it's easier to put an image with a bunch of dough on your desktop and "visualize your future success", continuing to drink beer on the couch and do nothing .

Because magic and other shamans promise happiness right now and effortlessly. Do you want to get well? Here's your spine, not every day injections and a strict diet. Do you want happiness in your personal life? Here is a love potion for you, and not at all a long way of self-development, personal growth, attempts to get to know each other and responsibility for relationships. And also because magic is easier to understand. It is psychologically easier for us to believe that it was the neighbor who jinxed, and not that it is a sudden illness or accident. Something that can repeat itself at any moment and from which no one has any protection. And there is no great justice either, no matter how good you are, cancer, for example, doesn't care. It is difficult for most people to understand and accept. And the family curse, the evil eye - that's understandable. Someone sent, someone is to blame, so you can fight and protect yourself. Likewise, belief in karma works.

Because so many people do not know how to analyze information, do not have basic knowledge in natural science, do not understand the difference between objective facts and value judgments, between evidence-based science and demagoguery.

Simply put, because 95% population - ignorant fools.

There are several reasons for this.

First, medicine is imperfect, there are many gaps, incurable diseases. A person needs hope, so he turns to other blamed paths.

Second, low culture. Traditional medicine and shamanism are very close, they have evolved from custom for centuries, but they are often erroneous and dangerous to health. But people don't know about it. And they trust the age-old authority.

Third, human nature loves the unknown. Be it God, devils dancing with a tambourine, or belief in black cats. By helping them, you can blame the other for your problems. "I have health problems because I was cursed," but not because a person eats fried at night. Rituals personalize disease. And when it can be presented as something understandable, and not a chemical reaction of the body.
