Absolutely leftist judgments of why alcohol and tobacco are allowed. Alcohol is allowed not because it is difficult to produce (well, you have to come up with such a thing!), But because, on the contrary, it is very simple to make it. In principle, it is not necessary to do it, it is enough to leave an aqueous solution with glucose or starch in a dark closet and after a while, bacteria and fungi will do their job. Tobacco cannot be banned due to mass consumption. According to statistics, almost every second person uses tobacco. Let's say tobacco is banned. Millions of aggressive, nicotine addicts, will take to the streets with a particular withdrawal! The consequences need not be further described. Therefore, in all countries, the anti-smoking tactic is the gradual tightening of the screws - increasing prices and exacerbating the lives of smokers with new laws on smoking. As for cannabis, yes, everything is correctly written. I hope that common sense will prevail and such a valuable plant will come out of disgrace!

Why did you decide that it is prohibited? Plant two bushes at home, smoke for health and no one will touch you. Only an administrative article is put in your pocket for smoking and a joint, the same as for being in a public place under the influence of alcohol.

Here the answer is obvious, the State does not tolerate competition in an area in which there is a huge income, and the more it is easier to manage a drunken cattle, take at least marijuana, how dangerous is it? Do you feel like adventures after her? Or inappropriate actions? Take the banal statistics on the number of drunken crimes. While it will be profitable for someone, it will continue, and who will benefit? You think you know.

Alcohol and tobacco not only destroy health, but they do it much faster than most illegal substances. Alcohol is more destructive to the body than heroin and also causes physical dependence. Why is that ? Who benefits from?

www.youtube.com explains everything perfectly, with proofs for research and scientific and political background. I do not agree with all the theses, but for the most part when I watched these videos, he repeated what I had previously discussed. Moreover, in a wonderful presentation. It is true that the video is forty minutes long, but it's worth it.

The cultivation of tobacco and the production of tobacco products is a complex, capital-intensive process. We need land, mechanization, fertilizers, production lines, this is a whole industry. As a consequence, the tobacco growers, the owners of this highly structured business, make large profits, pay substantial taxes and duties, and have a serious lobby. They are beneficial to the state, both as a source of income and as a source of corruption. Alcohol producers do the same.

Growing marijuana does not require much effort, it could be done by everyone on their site, if it was legal. It grows beautifully everywhere by itself. How to tax it? How to control? There is a version (and the Russian Wikipedia supports it) that the ban on marijuana is the result of lobbying by the timber processing industry. I find this argument dubious. At the time of the ban on marijuana in the United States (1938), the country had a relatively fresh and extremely negative experience with Prohibition, which only led to an increase in organized crime and massive poisoning with alcohol substitutes. It seems doubtful that just a decade after the repeal of Prohibition, the United States was ready to undertake another such experiment without serious motives. Let's say social motives. According to aide to President Nixon, the "war on drugs" was created as a means of oppressing black US citizens and suppressing the anti-war movement.

Marijuana is much less harmful than tobacco and is much less addictive. Its illegal position is a relatively recent invention, in the USA the ban appeared in the 40s, and in the USSR in the 60s of the XX century. There is no need to think that its current position is traditional, that it has always been so. For this reason, I disagree with those who answer this question in the key "it is so established, this is such a tradition." Hemp in Russia has been grown at least since the 9th century, let's somehow define what is tradition here and what is innovation.

As you might have guessed, this exciting question could not but be asked. And, indeed, in different variants it is asked about twenty times.

I will give only two popular links with many answers:

Why is marijuana not legalized in Russia?

Why is it illegal to sell drugs, but is it possible to sell vodka?

I also answered somewhere, but in such a heap of questions and answers I cannot find. I also think that everything is explained simply by the fact that such a tradition is so accepted. If we never smoked or drank and it would come now, then most likely it would be prohibited. You can easily imagine this about tobacco. About alcohol - no. After all, alcohol is an absolutely common tradition. And in small doses it does not destroy health.

There was another discussion here: thequestion.ru, nothing complementary, only one important clarification, I will quote it:

MIKHAIL REUTIN, pediatrician

Because the WHO criteria clearly state that a drug is not a substance that is traditional for a given culture. Therefore, in Russia, tobacco and alcohol are not considered drugs, and in Turkey, apparently, smoking opium.

This perfectly illustrates the idea that one differs from the other simply by the way it is traditionally treated society. Peter I broke the society meanly, now smoking is the norm.
