Cerebral edema is a pathological condition accompanied by the accumulation of fluid in the brain tissues. The reasons may be as follows: traumatic brain injury, infectious diseases, tumor, intracranial hemorrhage, stroke, intoxication, birth trauma, changes in atmospheric pressure.
The worst consequence of cerebral edema is death due to damage to vital centers located in the brain stem. May have a disability.
Edema of the brain can cause dementia and depression.
