I think that first of all you need to be in harmony with yourself. Do not burden yourself with heavy thoughts and doubts. Do not hang on yourself problems that you cannot or should not solve. Enjoy pleasant little things and be able to see the good. Protect your health and loved ones and try to do good.

Here, oddly enough, you need to choose - either quality or quantity. You can live a long but boring life, constantly measuring your blood pressure or blood sugar, periodically undergoing medical research for tumors or something unforeseen, God forbid. Eat only healthy foods, follow a diet, do not worry, exercise and do not get into any adventures in life. If there is money and desire for all this, why not? If you really want it, you can find quality in it. Although the quality is characterized by the joy received from the very existence. Everything that brings us joy: food, movement, travel, learning something new and useful, etc. I do not put close and dear people in last place, this is a self-evident condition for the quality of life, because it is they who bring the greatest joy into our life, but how they affect life expectancy is a completely different question)) Quality it is duration and usefulness in our life, more often the opposite.

Science knows practically nothing for certain. There are some recommendations regarding different aspects of life, which vary from case to case. Some are relevant for only a year, others for a couple of years, others for 5 and 10 years. Suffice it to recall the history of the impact of the wallet on research results, for example, about the dangers of sugar (you can read it here). In the future, obviously, the finances of multinational companies will increasingly begin to control science, and we are likely to witness new, sometimes stunning, but bogus results aimed at lightening our wallets. By the way, we already have 147 companies (at least) that control almost the entire world (the study is here in English). Therefore, strictly adhering to many of the recommendations of modern science can be dangerous. But we have no alternative.

In any case, I recommend that every time you hear another recommendation from scientists, re-read this quote:

We should all live with probabilities, not with confidence in results of medical research, and this should be communicated openly and sufficiently during the meeting with the patient doctor to optimize collaborative decision making.

taken from here scientific Cochrane community (in relation to vitamin D3), but I think this is a very true statement in general for many situations.

However, as a practical recommendation, absolutely vital, I recommend that you turn to at least this quote:

Honor thy father and thy mother, may it be blessing and may you be long on earth

Exodus 20:12

And here are the people living by this principle for more than one century, which I mentioned in some of my answers - Amish. It is very indicative - against the background of all other citizens living in a modern way. Basically, they have only one problem - 200 common ancestors, and accumulated genetic problems due to close relatives for 300 years. As for the rest, in terms of health, oncology, fertility, they are doing very well. In all fairness, we note that some of their mutations, oddly enough, turned out to be useful for longevity.

Of course, I gave an example, as a practical demonstration of success, among a fairly large population of people. Probably, answering your question, this is far from the only and correct way, for sure there are others. Nothing prevents you from looking for some compromise options. For example - to change city life to suburban, or move away from industrial facilities. But nothing is perfect. Distance from civilization, for example, refers to distance from medicine. The choice is yours.

Remain useful to society. Having someone to take care of - let it be at least a dog or a cat.

Have hobbies - intellectual board games, weaving, modeling, drawing, singing, creating new varieties of cultivated plants, photographing, writing poetry, writing memoirs, learning languages etc.

Do not allow yourself to be weak in mind - do not exchange life for sitting in front of the TV. If reading is inconvenient, you can listen to audiobooks. Yes, you understood correctly: books are not a hobby, but a necessity.

To move a lot - to walk, physical education. Amosov has a small book about this.

Do not overeat, but also do not starve, make sure that the food contains everything the body needs.

Stress should be moderate, but should not be absent altogether. The state of the flow is described by Csikszentmihalyi, and about antifragility - by Taleb.

Do not smoke, do not drink, move a lot (but do not play sports, exercise, these are different things), get enough sleep, do not overeat, do not freak out.

Smoking, physical inactivity, lack of sleep, stress and overeating is our main killer.

However, if you live in the center of a metropolis, consider that you practically smoke.

Alexey, any person intending to live a long time does not smoke (alcohol in small doses established by WHO), monitors cholesterol and sugar levels, maintains normal weight, runs and swims, undergoes medical examination on time.

In a word, movement and movement again; do not get depressed; give up multivitamins in favor of natural vegetables and fruits (from only one fiber in them - a lot of benefits), not to mention the fact that multivitamins have not proven their effectiveness in terms of prevention. Even today, the fish oil capsules didn't seem to work.

Yes, avoid sunburn. Today melanoma is a scourge all over the world. In Russia alone, up to 9,000 new cases of this disease are registered annually.
