In 1940 N. Hogan and A. Perrault showed that chickens raised on an artificial diet develop anemia, which disappears with adequate nutrition. In 1941, a vitamin was isolated, which is a factor preventing this disease, this vitamin is folic acid.
Therefore, the prefix C means antianemic (prevents the development of anemia)
