I decide this question for myself positively. In addition to the benefits for the owner, there are other considerations:

  1. An apartment cat does not shine to have as many pairings in life as a wild one. Even if he is lucky someday, most of his life is frustration, especially if there are cats in the neighborhood, he can smell through the doors. It also promotes the development of tumors in unused organs, according to my veterinarian.

  2. For those cases when mating does occur, it should be said that uncontrolled breeding of cats, especially outbreds, is an increase in the number of cats dying on the street from cold and disease. Their natural range is the territory of modern Iraq, where, to put it mildly, it is quite warm. In our conditions, most cats on the street live until the first winter, the lucky ones can last a couple of years. And, yes, a very significant part, most likely, the majority of outbred cats (and a significant percentage of purebred) sooner or later end up on the street. Even if you contrive and attach all the kittens, you are unlikely to be able to trace their further fate and the fate of their offspring.

  3. Cats do not have complex memory, abstract thinking and complex understanding of reality. A neutered cat does not know at all that he has lost something, these are all our projections. He perceives reality directly, here and now. The resting place from anesthesia lasts one day, and peace for him and for the owners lasts all his life.

In general, the decision to neuter pets is difficult, but well-reasoned, whatever one may say.

After castration, you will get rid of: the smell of the cat itself, the smell of its secretions, increased activity, imitation of sexual intercourse with objects, fights with neighboring cats, "March" festivities (after which they, at best, come dirty and scratched, at worst get under cars, under dogs). The operation is inexpensive and simple, do not spare your pet.
