I will say even more, people in the same family "love" to die on the birthday of their relatives. Well, about their dates, too often comes across. I don’t know what it’s connected with, but it has been noticed several times.

In short, my grandmother is right.

Scientists from Switzerland have studied the probability of death on certain dates. They concluded that the most likely to die on their own birthday.

Swiss researchers decided to find out if there are days when death is most likely. It turned out that there is such a day - and this is the day the person was born.

To come to such conclusions, scientists analyzed data on the dates of more than 2.5 million deaths that occurred from 1969 to 2008. The analysis excluded deaths of children under one year of age. It turned out that the chances of dying on your birthday are on average 13.8 percent higher than on any other day of the year.

For some causes of death, the statistics were even more impressive. So, the probability of dying from cardiovascular diseases on a birthday is almost 20 percent higher, and from cancer - by 10.8 percent. In addition, men commit suicide on this day 34.9 percent more often than on other days; in women, this dependence is not traced.

As the researchers suggested, these data may be associated with the fact that, on the one hand, people on their birthday often experience stress about aging or mentally summing up, and also use more alcohol than usual, on the other hand - with the fact that seriously ill and dying people often strive to "hold out" until their next birthday.

To answer this question, I took a database that contains data on the dates of birth and death of 60 thousand people who lived from the 19th century to our time, and calculated the difference in days between the dates of birth and death.

There are no statistically significant differences between the first, second and other months, the spread is within 2.5%.

This sample has many disadvantages, but it is certainly more relevant than the observations of a grandmother or a pathologist.

Not wrong. At least historical data for a long period of time and in a fairly large number of countries show just such statistics. This is quite logical if the person did not die in the first 2 months, i.e. managed to adapt to life - after that he just develops like everyone else. But in the first months of life, any deviation in health will be fatal for completely different reasons. Google SVSM

Not wrong. At work, I consistently write out medical death certificates, in which I write the date of birth and the date of death. And yes, there is such a pattern. I would even narrow it down to one month. Not all and not always, but nevertheless the eye clings to such a feature - the month of birth and death coincide. And this is not only my observation.

For the purity of the experiment, you can walk around the cemetery and collect statistics.

Wrong. The body doesn't give a damn about the birthday; it does not affect the vital functions of your body, so why should the influence manifest itself sharply before death?
