Because pleasant things are pleasant things that stimulate our pleasure center. In the game, you can very quickly achieve a result and get the famous "sense of achievement", that is, satisfaction from achieving goals. Constantly receiving quick rewards, the brain does not want to give it up - why ?! Therefore, in general, a person develops a mechanism of dependence on anything, an artificial and rapid (not at all foreseen by nature) stimulation of the pleasure center. Fatty or sugary foods, cocaine, games, pornography - all work on the principle of "pleasure, now, now, and more!" In nature, for pleasure, you need to work hard - win back the female, find food, equip a shelter. For such complex actions, animals (and humans) were initially rewarded with the production of dopamine, which makes us feel good. Now we hacked the system, and it did not bring us anything particularly good, hello to all drug addicts, obese people, porn addicts and, of course, game addicts.

Studying, in turn, usually does not bring any dopamine production, on the contrary, it makes the brain "work" and create new neural connections, and this is not a quick and resource-intensive business. The brain is not a fool, it chooses a pleasant biochemistry.

The answer to this question lies in the structure of our brain. Moreover, it does not matter whose brain it is. The fact is that when a person is engaged in nonsense (playing on a computer, watching TV, listening to music), his brain consumes 10% of the energy of the whole body (!), And when we are engaged in intellectual activity, the brain spends up to 25% of the body's energy. Therefore, the brain goes to deception, and in every possible way tries to "persuade" us to stop working, in order to relax.
