Recent research has shown that it is a lifelong growth factor that is the process that kills us. The cells in old people are much larger and they continue to grow regardless of whether there is enough space for them or not. As a result, this leads to destruction, weakening and popping
Only the developing embryo does not age, before birth. After childbirth, he begins to age as he grows up, and here's why:
In bacteria, the genetic material is ring-shaped. When you need to make a copy, a certain protein, an enzyme, which crawls along it and builds up its copy, can sit on this ring molecule in certain places. Naturally, at the same time, he always has a DNA molecule both on the right and on the left, because it is circular.
And when the so-called eukaryotes, more complex cells, appeared, the DNA broke, it became linear. But it is striking that the “copying” mechanism has remained the same. It still only works when it has genetic material on both the left and right. Accordingly, the very tip of the DNA molecule is not copied. This transition happened hundreds of millions of years ago. During this time, many other enzymes have arisen, old enzymes have changed - but this mechanism has remained the same.
Therefore, each subsequent copy is shorter than the previous one. As if the scribe, when rewriting a book, was always lazy to rewrite the last page.
And this continues for millions of years ...
How did nature get out of this? She began to build on the ends of the DNA molecule some “meaningless” text, which is done in a completely different way, without the participation of an enzyme. No one is warm or cold because this text is frayed. A special protein works in the embryo that builds up meaningless areas. Then, when the embryo is born, this enzyme - for some reason - stops working. And we are starting to grow old. And in cancer cells, on the contrary, the enzyme is activated and begins to constantly grow the tips.
The question arises, why did evolution allow such an outrage? The most valuable molecule - and such reading inaccuracy. Recently, the American biologist Jeff Bowles put forward the following idea: ring breaking was the invention of death from old age. This is how nature invented aging (bacteria do not age).
