Don't even try to study the psyche with the help of science. The psyche is a wonderfully complex and beautiful phenomenon. It is partly described by the science of the brain. But the scientific method only explains real phenomena that can be measured. Finding in the brain the reason for this or that behavior is still very difficult or even impossible. Therefore, psychologists assume that the psyche is a more or less independent system and lives according to its own laws. Psychologists also believe that people are empaths to some extent - that is, they can understand a person's psyche when they talk to him or just observe.

This method gives rise to theories that cannot be refuted -

  • about the inner child;

  • about psychotypes;

  • about psychological complexes;

etc.

Science believes that if there is no way to test your idea, then your idea is unscientific and cannot be considered true. Therefore, psychology is unscientific.

But to completely abandon psychology means to bury the inquisitiveness that lives in human nature. Thanks to her, science exists. Trying to explain phenomena should not be abandoned if there are no ways for this yet. Attempts can stimulate the development of methods.

I think that science and psychology can live side by side in our age. Psychology can only wait for the development of methods by which it can be tested. Until then, you need to discard outright nonsense based on pseudoscience and mythology, such as theories about karma, aura, the energy of the word, THOUSANDS OF THEM. In addition, it is necessary to abandon techniques that can harm people.

Psychology is not a science, but a useful and beautiful branch of knowledge.

It depends on who thinks so and what this person means by the concept of psychology ... For those who do not delve into this science, psychology is nonsense and nonsense. And whoever has a direct relationship to it will disagree with such statements .... In fact, a scientific apparatus has been developed in psychology, a lot of experiments and theories. I would like to object to the previous commentator: in fact, from the point of view of biology, only how the brain works and how the psyche affects the body and vice versa is explained ... As a student of the psychology department, I can say: psychology is present in one way or another everywhere. We just don't notice it. Educational programs, evacuation plans, various propaganda, advertising are based on psychology ...

The main argument of psychology critics is that it is impossible to get into a person's thoughts, into his head (not into the skull and brain), and find out for sure how he thinks, what he thinks. But maybe science will allow us to do this in the distant future. Psychology is not an exact science, but that does not mean that it is not a science. Not everything is subject to mathematics.
