February, 2021True. But this is just one sign, and in reality there are quite a few. Still, culture doesn't end with music. Regularities are visible only if a person consciously chooses one or another music and takes it seriously. So, rap, synth-pop and the like are characteristic of low intelligence: compositions consist of one or two sounds, the same percussion pattern, and the lyrics descend to lust, consumerism, empty pathos and other attributes of the majority. Smart (technically, not socially, that's also important) people are mostly serious about rock music and almost all styles of metal. Historically, the complexity of the compositions allows composers to create a fairly large number of unique works (there are 12 types of blast beat alone). It is not hard to guess what kind of person will at least just see the subtleties, details, interesting ideas. Well, and where without lyrics that are based on an extreme degree of honesty (I remind you that the smarter a person, the better he perceives the truth).
This does not mean that a listener of metal will always be smarter than a listener of rap, posturing is still nobody did not cancel. It's just that metal gives a lot more guarantees that its regular listeners can notice the maximum amount of subtleties.

February, 2021This is more of a stereotype than a confirmed or grounded fact. You can find articles about different experiments on this subject. A person's intelligence can be as subjective as their preferences in movies, food, and so on. What can certainly be determined by musical preferences is the type of hobbies, sphere of interests, circle of contacts. From personal experience I can say that this "deductive" approach works, but with decent misfires. It is also important to consider the degree of passion of the person. After all, "paranoid fanaticism of the highest degree" in relation to any performer, for example, is not good and healthy, as it was with the Eminem fan, which he talks about in his track Stan. Or what about people - music lovers? Such people have a salad of psychedelic electronics in their players, -core of all colors and tastes, choral singing of northern peoples, Latinos, reggae, Britney, Casta and James Brown, Zemfmra, and that's at least. So all this is a lie, it seems to me, attempts to identify the leader in iq among benchmarks and rockers (the iq test, by the way, is also not universal), and beating with three fists in the chest, that this is labor, but this is not labor. There is something interesting in every musical direction. It is easier and more interesting to recognize and learn than to bend your own line. And by the way, don't be shy ...
