On this topic, you can read the book by David Lynch Catching a Big Fish: Meditation, Mindfulness and Creativity - Moscow: EKSMO, 2009. - 208 p. David himself has been practicing for a long time and in the book describes how exactly he came to this and how it helps him in his work. Also in 2012, a documentary film Meditation, Creativity, Peace was released. Here is its description: During 2007-2009. David Lynch has traveled to 16 countries in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, speaking to audiences of all ages and cultures and teaching them about transcendental meditation, his work and the world. He has been working on the film with great concentration and dedication for the past several years. The film includes David's answers to audience questions, excerpts from numerous interviews, quotes from great and famous people.
You can also read the book "Conscious Meditation" published by MYTH.

In my opinion, it would be a good idea to start with ordinary meditation. After that, transcendental meditation will probably no longer be needed.

In order to learn how to meditate, you need to count to ten without thinking about anything. Although it sounds simple, it is actually difficult, since without experience it is very difficult to clear your brain of all thoughts.

At one time, when I was just starting to study meditation techniques, I used different methods. You can focus on the second hand, look at it without thinking about anything. In this case, you feel how time slows down. You can do this through auto-training, relaxing all the muscles, and then clearing the mind (I even recorded myself on a tape, and then listened). You can focus on some random noise (flowing water, the sound of train wheels, etc.).

After you manage to reach the state of empty consciousness (when you don't think about anything), all other types meditation is just a matter of technique. Although, of course, to meditate while lying on nails will take a little practice.
