For healthy people, there are no restrictions on fluid intake at night. You should be guided by the sensations of your body. If there is a thirst, it must be quenched. If there is no such need, then you should not specifically drink liquid.
If you just decide to have a cup of tea shortly before bedtime, then keep in mind that at night you will wake up from the urge to urinate. If there are no problems with falling asleep after going to the toilet, then there is nothing to worry about. But if there are such difficulties, then tea drinking should still be postponed until the morning.
People with heart and kidney diseases have to be more vigilant and limit the amount of fluid they drink in the evening, and sometimes throughout the day. The water regimen for such diseases should always be discussed with the attending physician.
As a rule, it is recommended to stop the intake of fluid in the body 1-2 hours before bedtime. Of course, if a person takes medications at night, then he has to drink them, but in this case, the volume of liquid drunk will not be significant.
If in the morning you notice swelling in yourself that was not in the evening, or often (more 1 time) wake up to urinate during the night, then you should evaluate the amount of liquid you drink in the evening and, possibly, reduce its volume. Also, these symptoms may indicate kidney disease, prostate disease in men and are found in obstructive sleep apnea
Not that bad. This will not significantly affect your well-being. But swelling is possible, that is, there are some cosmetic problems. May negatively affect the quality of sleep.
After drinking water before going to bed, evaluate your well-being in the morning. Did you sleep well at night? Did you have to wake up several times because of the urge to use the toilet? Is there any swelling? Maybe you just felt discomfort?
If there is discomfort, then it is better not to drink water an hour before bedtime. If you really want to, then drink not a glass, but a few spoons.
