I have found several sources that say that autism is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system. Some viruses are treated with acyclovir and homeopathic medicines. In Israel.

As a mother of a child with ASD.

Anything that is not the norm is a pathology. Autism is not the norm and it is enough to idealize about a special condition, its mystical reasons and mislead parents.

Many people do not consider autism to be a disease because it cannot be treated with medication. It is true that there are no pills for autism, but not for all diseases they are.

Autism is a congenital mental illness, autism spectrum disorder. It is called spectral because it has a wide variety of manifestations: from lethargy to hyperactivity, from complete preservation of the intellect (Asperger's syndrome) to varying degrees of mental retardation (S. Kanner), from withdrawal to a burning need for communication, incl. with strangers.

Autism is NOT a contagious disease, but it cannot be cured by pills, music, microcurrent devices, or horses with dolphins. An autistic cannot be Cured, but it can be TEACHED. The ability to learn is precisely at the heart of socialization, which is now so much talked about. A child with ASD is taught acceptable behavior in a particular social group, the optimal way of communication (verbal or alternative - sign language, PECS cards), cooperation with adults and peers, group games, speech understanding, requests (including for help) adequate response to addressing him in different situations. Many would-be psychologists argue that autism is a special condition and learning will not help restore an emotional connection with a child. I lost a year and a half in due time, because I listened to such "specialists". I wonder why children who are only "taught" have a desire to be in a team, play with children, look their parents in the eyes, hug them, kiss them? Why do they go to classes with pleasure, start talking, drawing, spontaneously copy the actions of other children and talk about how they feel? Because the child begins to understand what is happening around him, what they want from him, he can express his desires, in a word, the world around him turns from chaos into an understandable, structured space that can be controlled.

Autism cannot be cured, but the frequency and severity of symptoms naturally diminish as a person adapts socially, so some people mistakenly think that the child is "recovering".

Sorry for the continuous stream of consciousness, I just want the parents of other children with ASD to hear me. The faster the diagnosis is made and the correction begins, the faster the child will feel part of this world, feel needed, important, loved.

This is one of the most common myths. Definitely not. It is not a disease that can be contracted. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) do not arise from inadequate parenting, parenting, or childhood vaccinations, as others often believe. This is a developmental disorder with which a person lives throughout his life. As part of the Every Child Deserves a Family program, the Foundation is working to create and develop free support services for families raising children with disabilities, which allow children to maximize socialization and fulfill their potential.
