I am an atheist and I cannot understand why there are so many believers among doctors, because they have studied biology, the human body, are familiar with evolution?

You know, the presence or absence of faith in God has nothing to do with the degree of education or commitment to science. Belief in God is a need of the soul, or, if you as an atheist understand other terms more clearly, call it a psychological need. I knew a physicist who was a very religious person and about this in Soviet times he was subjected to all kinds of jokes from colleagues. No, he was not bullied, he was a very pleasant person and was treated well, but, of course, physicists, who were just almost forcibly brought up in the traditions of atheism in Soviet times, were a little surprised by this combination. So somehow at one of the parties he was asked how he manages to be a serious physicist and at the same time believe in God with all seriousness. I still remember his answer: he said that physics in no way prohibits the existence of God. The act of birth of elementary physical objects from the physical vacuum is a divine act, as well as the act of their destruction, and everything else that occurs in the interval between these two acts can be explained with the help of physics. And, indeed, physics does not explain how and why the birth and destruction of matter occurs, it only takes these phenomena into account in its models. This is how doctors, knowing how the human body works and possessing all modern knowledge, nevertheless, in practice, see birth and death. They try to help and heal, but sometimes they cannot understand why one person gets sick and the other does not, although it would seem that it should be the other way around throughout science. Why does one smoke and go out and live at the same time up to 100 years old, while the other maintains a healthy lifestyle and dies suddenly at 50. Why does one recover and the other does not, although it would seem that the second should have more chances ... Yes, you can develop science and explain more and better and, nevertheless, life is a miracle and many doctors believe that this miracle is of divine origin. It is impossible to prove it or disprove it - it is a matter of faith. But I personally understand very much why people who are constantly dealing with life and death, as well as constantly faced with unlikely things that are nevertheless implemented in practice, come to believe in God.

Because there are moments in which only faith helps, and oddly enough, there are some incomprehensible forces that even bring people out of a coma and return them to life. It's not a fact that this is specifically God, but it's easier to explain these points.

All the respondents somehow forgot that there are actually fewer believers among scientists in the exact and natural sciences (biology, physics, ...) according to various sources.

And you yourself look through the anatomy, see how reasonably everything is thought out, how much every human muscle is intertwined, how everything is interconnected, every tendon, every nerve, every cell ... Do you really think that it all formed by itself into such a complex organism. Yes, no centuries of evolution are capable of this! Something cannot arise out of nothing. And by the way, Darwin's theory is just a theory. If it were so, then on the planet there would no longer be a single monkey)))))))
There are many believing doctors because many have seen miracles that defy any explanation. They have observed many times how people, being in clinical death after so much time, come to life again and overcome death, contrary to all laws of logic and a preconceived, skeptical perception of life. When doctors give up when they are exhausted and ascertain death, our merciful God comes to their aid and makes salvation, because He loves people and often wants to give them another chance, to do something good on this earth. I tell you this confidently, because I very clearly feel His strength and power in my life. I had an oncological disease, the doctors said that it is not treated, but only taken under control in order to observe the dynamics. and I understood that it was very dangerous. If I were alone, I probably would have reacted to it without giving a damn. But I have a family and a small child, whom I did not want to leave an orphan at all. I turned to God. I did not go to any church, I just prayed in my own words and all the time asked Him to help me. Addressing like this - "Lord, if You exist, then help me and I will believe !!!" And remission came. Yes, although the disease has not gone away, it simply does not manifest itself, but nevertheless it does not harm me. And there is also evidence that God exists. Long before I was born, when my mother was a young girl, she crashed on a motorcycle. It was in the evening with poor visibility. It turned out that a cargo truck, which for some reason was flying at full speed (well, and my mother's speed was not small) collided and rammed my mother very far, the motorcycle somehow caught a sidecar ... the braking distance was about 20 meters. It was literally collected piece by piece. The bones were shattered, miraculously managed to connect the fragments. She survived clinical death, saw the doctors crawling over her, her bloody body ... how she began to rise above the ceiling, then moved forward along the tunnel, in which she met her dead relatives. Then a voice said: it's not time yet! And she "fell" into her body. 7 minutes was cardiac arrest. After that, she lay bedridden for a year, all in a cast, but was happy that she remained alive, because she loves life and this accident was a test for her so that she began to take more seriously withhowl life. She was not only able to get up on her feet, but also fully lived without a wheelchair and crutches. And, thank God, she gave birth to me even after that. And this is the grace of God! Only He could resurrect her and bring her back to life. Because a person cannot just die and come to life himself. I do not believe in that. Everything is in the power of the Creator. He decides who will live and who will die when. It's scary to imagine what would have happened if she hadn't come to life then! There wouldn't be a whole generation of people after her.
I believe in God and believe what is written in the Bible, because all the prophecies described in it inevitably come true. You have to be blind not to notice that the world is heading for the apocalypse. Every day there is an outrageous number of natural disasters, epidemics, wars do not stop, the planet is collapsing, people are going to perdition. The worst thing is that nothing will be better here on earth, but it will only get worse and worse. And it simply cannot be that everything ended so sadly with the death of humanity. There is so much evil and abomination in the world. Is there nothing better for us? Do you not want to believe in peace and love, that the LIGHT of Jesus Christ and our Father God will shine in darkness and save us? Do you know you were bought at a high price? Jesus, the Holy Son of God, who knew no sin, died a shameful death for us, He was hated, beaten, spat on, and crucified ..... He took the guilt of all people upon Himself and crucified for us, atoned for our sins with His holy blood so that we have justification and salvation. And on the third day he rose again, because he had the power to lay down his life and take it again. Was His sacrifice in vain for you? You just have to admit - yes, we are in trouble. yes, we need salvation. We do not want to just die without seeing happiness. He did everything for you! Just accept your salvation! Repent and live righteously. Amen!

I have two points of view on this problem.

All doctors are people, many people are stupid, therefore, many doctors are stupid. Among doctors, there can also be found supporters of "intelligent design", the miraculous power of prayer, homeopathy and other obscurantism.

On the other hand, the essence of religion has never been the construction of a scientific picture of the world and I am very sorry for those people for whom religious books are the source of natural science knowledge. Religion (ideally) plays an exclusively spiritual role, and its goal is to lead a person to Salvation through a certain way of life. Therefore, the spheres of science and religion (again, ideally) do not intersect, and therefore natural science education does not prevent a person from being a believer.

Because religious faith is not the result of scientific research, and not an answer to the demands of reason. Faith solves problems other than those that science solves. And therefore, scientific arguments in many cases overtake religious beliefs. not because they are false or mistaken, but because they are about something else.

People believe in God because of their needs, some deep personality traits, and not in order to the world to explain. There is science to explain, but it, for example, does not quench a person's thirst for the presence in the world of meaning or existential longing.

My friend said that faith is not in the book. He is a doctor and he is a believer, but not one who worships books, he has faith in this "supreme mind", he considers rituals / dressing up / erection of temples in the 21st century unacceptable. By the way, many religious scientists (with whom I spoke) had a similar point of view.

Approximately their opinion sounds like this: "Holy Scripture" is outdated, but it was written in antiquity, supplemented like everything with mysticism (even all sciences originally had mystical roots in philosophy), since they did not understand some phenomena, and if you remove all fairy tales and magical rites, there is a deep meaning in this, which explains a lot.
