The lack of carbohydrates is covered by the "intake" of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are simple and complex. Simple ones are sweets, cakes, cookies, gingerbread and so on. They are quickly absorbed and give an instant flow of energy. Complex ones are rice, Greek, pasta, oatmeal. These carbohydrates take longer to digest and gradually release energy.
