" In my opinion, OCD is a sign of "underdevelopment" "" of the brain, like mine ... Ordinary people who have achieved success in life and become famous - it simply does not exist ... Or rather - you need to clarify, OCD - is in some great people, most often when they talk about high intelligence, they cite the example of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes, his eternal memory ... But science, at the time when he lived, was not as well developed in this matter as it is now Unfortunately, nothing helped him, not even his huge fortune. Maybe he would have been cured now, who knows ... In any case, the problem was, is and remains relevant, and it is up to us, OCD patients, to decide how we treat it. I believe that OCD is not a sign of either genius or high intelligence, just like madness is not a sign of a healthy mind ... Forgive who will read this. It's my personal opinion . I have mild OCD, and when I succumb to it and begin to perform my rituals, I am perfectly aware of what I am doing, but I can’t help myself, this is in addition to what they wrote that it is unlikely that a person with a high IQ will wash their hands 30 times before bedtime, this is a completely uncontrollable phenomenon and it can destroy any life, I personally trust those scientists who write about people with OCD, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, who have achieved success in life, educated people suffering from this disease ... My OCD is the fact that I often get hung up on all sorts of little things like: links, likes, reposts, and it really hinders me in a relationship with a girl and in my personal life, when applying for a job, but I can control him if I want, I would not say, that I have a low IQ, I passed these tests many times and scored about 132 points in total, it seems to me that OCD occurs when the human brain is overloaded with information and is looking for a possible alternative to its behavior, such as breath or a detailed analysis of some thing, perhaps intuition also works, because thanks to my OCD, I learned a lot of things that I did not even imagine existed ..

Perhaps because OCD is a disease of doubt. And a stupid person does not doubt anything - he is directly firmly sure of everything. To question a lot, to check, etc. characteristic of people who are intelligent with critical thinking.

I doubt that people with OCD stand out significantly from the control group in intelligence. I heard that there were only a few studies that made this connection. But the question is - is it possible to make a judgment about the whole group of these patients on the basis of just a few works?

I am not familiar with this fact, but if we assume that it is correct, I can find the following explanations for it:

1. A person with a high level of intelligence with chances is well educated, has a good job and income. These people are more likely to seek medical attention and therefore are better researched.

2. A person with a high level of intelligence has a well-developed critical thinking. These people are more likely to notice that something is wrong with them and ask for help.

3. OCD is caused by increased anxiety. It can be assumed that a person with a high level of intelligence generates more anxiety due to the developed imagination and does not have "release valves" that would allow it to be released.

In fact, it is not a fact that the environment is correlated with high intelligence. In contrast to Arkady, I can say that not even the smartest person realizes that checking the front door 20 times before bedtime or washing your hands 30 times per hour is a little abnormal, especially since the obsession may not be obvious, even for people who surround a person. This is rather another unproven theory)

Well, as they say, a simple and happy life does not shine for a person with a high level of intelligence. So OCD is, in fact, the toughest complication of life. OCD triggers millions of obsessive thoughts in people whose head is just full of these thoughts, and at the same time they unsuccessfully try to fight these thoughts with others, counterbalancing, but this is useless, because they can no longer deceive themselves. What follows from this? A person, even on an instinctive level, must be aware of what is happening to him and how to deal with it. Perhaps, in fact, OCD is not so common in people with a high level of intelligence, but the fact that it is OCD is realized mainly by people with a high level of intelligence. OCD is so intrusive that it can change a person very much, or make him think in a way he doesn't want to. I remember reading that OCD can be confused with love at the level of some kind of science.
