From the point of view of medicine, the execution is really humane. As well as from the point of view of Ethics (the execution itself in Ethics is not humane, but for that matter ...).

However, it does not rank first. Because a person is aware of the mental pain in the last seconds. It is best not to warn him and poison him in his sleep.

The most humane way, I think, is hanging from a height at which the cervical vertebrae break and death occurs instantly (see the table of drops)

If we compare different types of executions with each other, then the execution is indeed one of the most humane from a medical point of view for a person. By humanity in this case, we will mean a quick, maximally painless death. Obviously, death by hanging, drowning, quartering takes some time. A person suffers in these seconds and minutes. It's not humane. Execution by electric chair also cannot be considered humane. There is a lot of evidence that a person does not die immediately. A competitor to execution is perhaps the beheading of an executioner's ax or a guillotine. But still, the most humane way of death, I would call a lethal injection. A person simply falls asleep and dies in a dream. Quiet and painless. So, in my opinion, the execution is not in the 1st place for humanity, but only in 2-3 ...

Medicine? From the point of view of medicine, execution is deliberate (in rare cases unintentional) murder. Murder cannot be humane. That's it.
