March, 2021There is a lot of acid in fruits. On a sick, empty stomach can worsen its condition. A healthy person doesn't care. Unless, of course, we are talking about a kilogram of lemons.

March, 2021It is possible for the hungry, full and with other food . For example, there is a myth that you need to eat fruit on an empty stomach so as not to mix it with other foods. Supposedly, when eating, fruits slow down digestion, food settles in the stomach and rots.
Fruits can actually slow down digestion and absorption of nutrients from the stomach a little. But even if the fruit remained in the stomach for an unusually long time, they would not have a chance to rot - most microorganisms are not able to grow in conditions of increased acidity of the stomach. Slower digestion helps a person feel full longer.
There is no scientific evidence that it is better to eat fruit at a certain time or not on an empty stomach. Fruit can be combined with food or eaten on its own at any time for the same health benefits. Fiber from fruits improves bowel function. It is believed that citrus fruits can increase the acidity of the stomach, but this is not the case, significant dangerous increases from a couple of citrus fruits will not happen.
How much to eat
It is believed that a person needs to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. One serving - how much fits in the palm of your hand. An average adult serving 80 grams of fresh, canned or frozen fruit:
