January, 2021A mole (it is scientifically a nevus) is often a collection of melanocytes - the cells that give color to our skin, but there are also vascular nevi formed due to the proliferation of skin capillaries. Due to the nature of the location of some nevi, there is a possibility of their damage (trauma, ultraviolet radiation), such moles are recommended to be removed, but only after consulting a specialist of the appropriate profile (dermatologist).
Corticosteroid ointments based on cortisone / hydrocortisone are prescribed in the event of skin allergic reactions and inflammatory processes, therefore it is advisable to apply the ointment after its removal, as skin inflammation is possible at the site of the removed mole.
