January, 2021It is possible to cure a dog with heart worms - nematodes. If the tests show that they are present in the pet's blood, the dog may be prescribed anti-detox medications and other concomitant drugs that restore the work of the heart and vascular system. If treatment with drugs does not help, surgery is also possible.

January, 2021Hello. Your question is very serious, so I will tell the truth.
Heartworm is a type of roundworm of the Dirofilaria immitis species. These worms cause a deadly disease in pets - dirofilariasis. Mosquitoes are known carriers of heartworms - dirofilaria. Heartworms are round, thin and can be up to 30 cm in length. Dirofilariasis develops when a parasite-infected mosquito bites a cat, dog, or other animal. Moreover, with each bite, the larvae of the worms are transferred from one animal to another.
The heartworm can grow up to 30 cm and live in the heart, lungs and large arteries of animals. As soon as the heartworm takes root in the body, the animal develops heart failure, damage to the lungs, and sometimes disruption of the work of other organs, which can potentially lead to their death.
The larvae of the heartworm - microfilariae - enter the mosquito when he bites an infected animal. Further, the larvae travel through the insect's body and, at the next bite, pass to a healthy animal. Dirofilariasis is only transmissible (i.e., mosquito-to-animal), no animal-to-animal transmission.
FDA has approved only one drug for treating heartworm in dogs ... It's called melasormin (Immiticide). In Russia, this medication is not easy to get, so we use complex therapy by other means.
Treatment should be carried out in a veterinary clinic. Most parasites die within 3 months, during this time it is recommended to keep the dog in a small room and limit the activity of the animal.
Even after the dirofilariasis has been cured, pain and discomfort remain with the dog for life, so it is important on time and correct prevention.
Not a very pleasant truth about the disease. But the dog is more than a friend, so it is our duty to try to rid it of the parasites. I am sure that you will be able to defeat this infection. Health to your tailed beast!
