My jaw practically did not hurt. Sipping - yes. But everything was bearable. The discomfort was greater from having to brush your teeth after every snack. I ate a piece of chicken or a leaf of lettuce - and you can't smile until you look in the mirror. And by the way, I ate everything, even gnawed nuts and bite off apples
When I just got braces, I didn’t feel anything “extra” in my mouth. All the trouble came the next day: I woke up from wild pain early in the morning. The pain was severe, but bearable. I immediately refused the pills, since they are of no use. At first, I ate only soft food: mashed potatoes, cereals, cottage cheese, etc. After a week and a half, the pain was gone. As for the care of teeth with braces, there is nothing complicated about it. I bought a special brush, with additional fibers on top of the usual ones, and with the right technique, everything was cleaned perfectly. Plus, a mouthwash is a must.
But, to be honest, I am very glad that I survived these difficulties and now I can smile without hiding my hand. Which is what I wish for you. Good luck :)
In the first hour after installation in the morning / afternoon, pressure was simply felt on the jaw. By evening, the jaw began to hurt unbearably. This is pain that cannot be relieved by anything, because pain relievers block an enzyme that is responsible for the synthesis of inflammatory mediators, and in the case of braces, this is not inflammation, but pain from pressure. And you understand that you have to smirk, tk. the braces won't come off now. The arc (wire) often rubbed the cheeks with its end (it is periodically cut). After a new pull-up, pain appeared again. It hurt to eat, even to drink through a straw. But this is the first time, then you get used to rubbing, and to the fact that the crowns sometimes fall off. I have been wearing braces for exactly 2 years. I don’t regret it. I can't call it torture. It is unpleasant, painful, but you can endure it.
I would like to continue the thought of the previous speaker. All of the above especially applies only to the first activation, directly during the installation of braces, each subsequent activation brings less and less trouble. My discomfort has almost completely disappeared by the fourth activation. Now, monthly visits to the orthodontist do not scare me, and I do not feel the braces at all.
