Neurotheology is rather a beautiful term from popular literature and is practically not used in scientific circles.

There is, for example, research in the field of neuroscience that studies the influence of religious practices on the functioning of the brain (here are Buddhist monks in fMRI):

Meditation refers to a family of complex emotional and attentional regulatory practices, which can be classified into two main styles - focused attention (FA) and open monitoring (OM) - involving ...

Also, the connection of temporal lobe epilepsy with increased religiosity and vivid religious experiences in time of attacks. Accordingly, there are works that investigate the mechanisms of this phenomenon.

Such very serious scientific research is sometimes called "neurotheology".

On the other hand, since this term is not used by scientists, it can mean anything at all, and texts that speak seriously about the "science of neurotheology" should be treated with an increased degree of skepticism.

I am reading about neurotheology for the first time. But, judging by the name, it is unlikely.

Transpersonal psychology is definitely not a science. At the same time, it is quite a practice that, like any practice performed by intelligent people who practice all kinds of psychological assistance, can help.

A person often breathed without pauses, - he was in a light trance, rested. I drew a mandala. I talked with like-minded people. A little more I believed that I got rid of some "birth traumas" and generally became healthier and better. Than bad something. Only good, like scrapbooking and other pacifying activities, IMHO.

And BPM, basic perinatal matrices ... We, of course, at the medical academy in 2001 at the Faculty of Clinical Psychology were given AND THIS (already under the heading "perinatal psychology "Forgive me!), - but by that time I was already breathing, and I was reading Grof. It’s not science even once. So as a psychologist, and as a good obstetrician I will say))
