Back in the 90s, nutritionists thought that in order to get all the nutrients from regular food, a person should eat about 6,000 kcal of food per day (usually, calculations are made for 70 kg of weight).
Approximately such were the costs of a person who got up early in the morning and was engaged in physical labor all day.
A modern person spends about 2500 kcal.
In order not to experience a deficiency in nutrients and not go over the calorie content, it is recommended to use dietary supplements, in which a high nutritional value is concentrated in a small amount of kcal. This is not really food, but rather supplements, since they do not have enough energy to fully support life.

A moot point. If you cannot diversify your diet with foods with the necessary set of nutrients, then perhaps vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements will help maintain health. Recently I read an article by an American researcher - he generally advised a sea of all sorts of dietary supplements, from aging, from heart disease, etc. I think this is an overkill, but if you have low hemoglobin, and you eat little meat (or a convinced vegan), then you will have to eat iron tablets and inject B12. Again, you can compensate with buckwheat, proteins, fish, shrimp, or you can drink pills. Everyone decides for himself.
