Most often in children, this is due to adenoids - hypertrophy of the pharyngeal tonsils. They block the passage to the nose and chronic nasal congestion develops, causing constant breathing through the mouth.

This condition is fraught with serious developmental disorders of the child:

  1. Appearance of snoring and respiratory arrest during sleep (obstructive sleep apnea syndrome).

  2. Formation of an adenoid ("bird") face: a large, humped nose, a small lower jaw displaced back and crowded teeth.

  3. Sleep disturbance, leading to deterioration of dew and mental development of the child.

Thus, it is very important to see a doctor, make a correct diagnosis and provide adequate treatment. If a child has grade 3 tonsil hypertrophy and other problems mentioned above, then this is an absolute indication for surgical treatment.

For the diagnosis and selection of drug therapy, a full-time examination by a pediatrician and an otolaryngologist is recommended.

Usually, a nasal toilet is prescribed with saline solutions (Quicks, Aqualor, Aquamaris) up to 5-6 times a day, with difficulty in nasal respiration - vasoconstrictor drugs (nasivin, nasol baby, galazolin, snoop, nasik, otrivin, pinosol or others) up to 3 times a day or if necessary (3 days). If allergic rhinitis is suspected, vibrocil nasal drops are usually used for 5-7 days. Sialor / Protargol (antiseptic nasal drops) are allowed up to 7-10 days, according to the instructions.

With severe nasal congestion, a decongestant (rinofluimucil) may be prescribed according to the instructions. Also, prescribe glucocorticosteroid preparations for topical use (nazonex, avamis).

If sinusitis is suspected, a combined herbal preparation (sinupret) may be recommended according to the instructions.

Exact examination tactics and further management tactics are determined by the doctor after an internal examination.
